Montfort School, Kolathur

On the 24th of August, Montfort Kolathur hosted its 25th Annual Sports Meet, a day filled with zeal and excitement experienced amidst joy, and cheers. The chief guest for the day was Thiru. Veer Pratap Singh., I.A.S., the Sub – Collector of Mettur is a Cricket player also. The special guest for the day was Thiru. B. Sivabalasankar, the Volleyball player, member of Indian Electricity Team. The day started with the prayer song rendering by the choir to pay salutations to the Lord Almighty followed by Tamizh Thai Vazhthu and welcome dance. Our beloved correspondent Rev. Bro. John David welcomed the gathering. The National Flag, Olympic Flag and the School Flag were hoisted by the Chief guest Thiru. Veer Pratap Singh, the Sub-Collector of Mettur, accompanied by the correspondent Rev. Bro. John David.

This was followed by the Inter-House March Past, a competitive event where the four houses eyed for the first place. It was time for the tiny tots of Montfort to enchant the audience with their charming performance of marching to precede the four houses, with waving the flags.

The Olympic Torch was lit by the chief guest and it’s carried by our school champions. Next, the 25th Annual Sports Meet is declared to open by the chief guest of the day, the highly awaited track events for the students right from KG to Super- Seniors and relay among Sub Junior – Super Senior & Old boys Vs. Present boys, witnessed by the spectators,where competitiveness among the students soared through the roof.

The winners were awarded with the medals and trophies for their sports’ spirit and heroic effort individually.

The next, visual treat was presented by the students of Montfort with their spectrum coloured drill “Aerobics”, an inspiring, enthusiastic and beautifully coordinated display.

The Cultural display had a further glimpse of the clear example of how team spirit leads to the entire team performing beautifully.

The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks given by the SPL Boy who thanked each and every one who worked for the day in order to conduct a Successful Sports Meet. The event ended with Flag Lowering Ceremony followed by the National Anthem. The Correspondent Rev. Bro. John David appreciated the effort of the students and the teachers for making the event success.

It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.

We had our 22nd Annual Sports Meet on the 18th of August. The chief guest was Prof. Elangovan, who is the secretary of Kavery Group of Institutions, Macheri. We also had Mr. Sathapillai, Retired District Judge from Kolathur as our Guest of Honour. Sports Day program started in the morning at 9.30 and was over by 1 pm. A lot of parents came to witness the Sports Day. After the Marchpast and the Sports item, we had Mass drill with the students of four houses. After this, we had cultural display by four houses on themes which were allotted to them. Students performed well and the winners were distributed the medals and certificates by the chief guests and other guests.
